5 Things to Consider when Hiring Lead Generation Services

Hiring a service that specializes in lead generation?may or may not be the best option for your business. ?As a business owner or president you may be considering contracting out lead generation services for any or all of three reasons.

  1. You are too busy focusing on the delivery of your product or service to your customers to allow time for prospecting for new business
  2. You have a very long sales process and your sales team are spending the majority of their time focused on the leads in your sales funnel and not enough time adding leads to that funnel
  3. You spend far too much time digging through lists of contacts, cold calling and picking away at it with limited results

Usually if you fall into the third category, you have probably seen the success that cold calling can provide but like most people, you find it discouraging to take so many?NO?s before eventually reaching someone willing to talk to you. ?So you end up spending much of your time focused on prospecting avoidance rather than actual prospecting. ?I?m speaking from experience! :)

So like many smart business people you may be thinking that if you have been successful with cold calling and booking qualified appointments, even though you dread it, there must be companies out there who can do it for you. ?And not only can they generate more leads or book great appointments for you. ?They have nothing else to do other than book appointments and generate leads so they should be able to get more than you ever had before!

So you listen to their sales pitch, all the success they have had, the huge growth that their clients have experienced as a result and how they will deliver exactly the type of leads that you want, no problem. ?Then you pay them a bunch of money and wait for the results and?

Hopefully you are reading this before you got to that point. ?In my experience, most lead generation services don?t live up to the expectations that they set in their sales pitch.

So without further?adieu?here are 5 things to consider when hiring a company to do your lead generation.

  1. Lead Quality ? Where is the target list the lead generators are using from? ?Is it a targeted list that fits the personas of the type of businesses or consumers that typically buy from you?
  2. Automation ? Are they using spammy email?marketing?techniques to constantly ?barrage business owners hoping that someone finally responds. ?Purchased lists don?t work for email marketing. ?The best email marketing is an opt-in list that you create yourself with proper inbound marketing?tactics.
  3. Qualification of Leads -?How are they?qualifying?the leads? ?Or are they qualifying them at all? ?Lead generators get paid to book appointments, not to qualify and take a chance at a?NO!
  4. Your Value Proposition ? Does Lead Generation Company ?X? book appointments for other businesses in your industry? ?If so, do they understand exactly what makes your company unique and different than all your competitors?
  5. Their Track Record ? Beyond all the great things they tell you they have done, can you verify that they have substantially helped other businesses generate more leads, customers and revenue as a result of their lead generation services?
