(PCM) It?s almost Election Day which means we?re almost free of those unbearable ads that find candidates tearing one another down rather than boosting themselves up. Does anyone actually enjoy watching those? Does anyone even pay attention to them?
True, there are different ways to reach out to different types of voters, but word on the street is humor is quite a powerful tool, especially among the 80 million Americans in the Millennial generation, ages 16 ? 32. (For some perspective, that?s just as many as Boomers and twice as many as Gen Xers. With 60% of Millenials saying they are extremely or somewhere likely to vote, that?s almost 50 million votes!)
They?ve got the power of Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert, but leading up to the 2012 election, Comedy Central partnered with TRU Insights and Insight Research to conduct an extensive research study seeking to define, frame and understand just how humor plays into Millennials? political beliefs, behaviors and capturing their vote.
