The Education Ministry of the mainly Bosniak and Croat Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has presented a solution to the phenomenon of "two schools under one roof", a problem in three of the ten cantons in the entity.
Education Minister Damir Masic said in Sarajevo on August 30 that the plan aims to end segregation and the division of structures in education in the entity.
Implementation of the plan will start from September and will take two years, depending on the readiness of schools to accept the suggested steps, which include administrative and legal acts to unite divided teaching institutions and creation of equal conditions for pupils.
Instead of divided schools, which in practice means one building with two entrances and divided playgrounds, the plan calls for the formation of multi-ethnic classes.
The plan follows the recommendations of a Mostar court, which has ruled that the "two schools under one roof" system in the towns of Stolac and Capljina violates Bosnian law against discrimination.
Masic added that the phenomenon is just one of the many violations of international agreements that Bosnia has signed up to.
Cantonal Education Ministers have supported the idea.
?The problem of 'two schools under one roof' was not made because children wanted it, or because of parents or teachers, but because politics demanded it,? Masic noted on Thursday.
?This is a chance to solve it...because Bosnia and Herzegovina was a multi-ethnic country for thousands of years and there is no reason why it should not continue being so,? he added.
The first step will consist of uniting schools under one administration, one name, one management and one teaching and parents council.
?That means establishing one school bell and one entrance, which is not the case now, when children do not even meet each other in the hallways,? Masic said.
He recalled cases of children commuting many miles to ?their? schools, so as not to have to sit in the same class as those of a different ethnic, national or religious group.
?Joint school and after school activities will be planned after that,? Masic continued. ?The last step will be establishing multi-ethnic classes... and unique books.?
The minister also cited the example of schools already operating in the District of Brcko, where all children attend the same schools and the same classes but follow some subjects differently.

AFP - India is set to announce dismal new economic growth figures on Friday, with expansion in the April-June quarter forecast at near nine-year-lows.
"The numbers will be bad," Siddhartha Sanyal, chief India economist with Barclays Capital told AFP ahead of the publication of the data, which is expected to deepen the gloom surrounding Asia's third-biggest economy.
"Industrial growth is likely to be flat, inflation is high and it is unclear what the government can do in the next three to six months," Sanyal said.
He forecasts India's gross domestic product (GDP) grew at the same rate as the previous quarter at 5.3 percent, a high figure by the standards of developed countries but far below the near double-digit growth of much of the past decade.
Leif Eskesen, HSBC's chief India economist predicts the same, saying "growth will be muted due to global headwinds and the lack of structural reforms in India."
India's once booming industrial sector is in crisis, with output contracting by a shock 1.8 percent in June due to high borrowing costs, declining confidence and falling demand.
Overseas investor confidence in the Indian economy is also on the wane, as shown by figures for foreign direct investment (FDI) for the quarter to June which tumbled year-on-year by 67 percent to $4.43 billion,
Global rating agencies like Fitch and Standard and Poor's have lowered their outlook on India's investment-grade rating amid rising worries about the government's deteriorating finances and negative current account.
The central Reserve Bank of India has also warned the country's economic prospects are unlikely to improve in the near-term, due to high inflation, the lack of reform and the impact of poor monsoon rains on farm output.
The RBI has kept interest rates on hold since April -- when it cut rates for the first time in three years by 50 basis points -- and economists do not expect the bank to lower rates in a hurry.
While other central banks around the globe have been easing interest rates to revive their troubled economies, the RBI says a cut in government subsidies and revival of investment are needed to remove chronic bottlenecks in the economy.
Wholesale inflation stands at 6.87 percent -- above the bank's comfort level of five to six percent -- while the consumer price index, which covers a smaller band of goods, is at 9.86 percent.
Business leaders and industry want collective action from the government and the RBI to boost growth.
"Immediate policy actions are needed, both by the government and RBI, to arrest the downward spiral in industrial growth," director-general of Confederation of Indian Industry Chandrajit Banerjee said last week.
But Jigar Shah, head of research with Kim Eng Securities, warned: "The mood is downbeat and people have no hope left from the government.
"The only positive is that things possibly cannot get worse."
India's economy is expected to grow 6.7 percent in the current fiscal year, according to a forecast by an advisory panel to the prime minister, while many economists see it as even lower.
The government -- damaged by a series of corruption scandals -- is struggling to introduce legislative reforms in parliament due to protests from the opposition which is demanding Prime Minister Manmohan Singh resign.
India's national auditor last week criticised Singh's government for giving away coal blacks since 2004 in a murky allocation process rather than selling them via a transparent auction.
In figures that have since been hotly contested, the auditor said companies given valuable resources had made windfall profits of 1.85 trillion rupees or $33 billion, a part of which could have gone to the national exchequer.

BEIJING (Reuters) - China's Premier Wen Jiabao said on Thursday he is confident the crisis-stricken euro zone can survive its nagging debt crisis, but warned that conditions remained difficult for the world economy.
Speaking to reporters after meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel, Wen said the global financial crisis had not ended.

Generally clients are conscious that there are steady safety points by method of Microsoft?s Windows operating mode and extra programs. Though, the things mainly clients don?t realize is how effortless it is to significantly improve your laptop?s confidence and cut back the chance of changing into a sufferer toward ever more and more sophisticated threats that lurk web. These steps should take lower than a few hours toward total and should not clear out your wallet.
1) Windows Update ? the initial essential step you need toward take toward create sure that every one your Microsoft platforms obtain all the newest product updates installed. These updates or ?patches? tackle safekeeping vulnerabilities and further issues. Microsoft often points these updates on a month-to-month cycle. Home windows XP does now ship by system of a free firewall on the further hand the item meant for consumption does not monitor outbound communication and due to this fact I imagine doesn?t present enough security.

There is a good arrangement of free and paid variations on give. Good free software system include Microsoft?s Windows Defender, Spybot S&D or Ewido Anti-Malware. Some like it hot; others prefer a milder version. From a dip with chips to a sauce for a main course, salsa is a staple for cooks.
Most keep a jar of salsa in the refrigerator as a topper for Hispanic foods or just as a dip with tortilla chips. While it is easy to pick up a jar of store-bought salsa, it is almost as easy to make, and fresh tastes best.
Salsas have variety, from a fiery red sauce to a fruity topper for seafood. The fruit salsas bring on the heat but soften it with sweet. Ripe pineapple and mangos are great for fruit salsas, along with a touch of mint. Mangos are ripe if they give slightly when touched, similar to a peach. A leaf on the crown of the pineapple should remove easily if it is ripe.
A simple pico de gallo of cilantro, onions, lime juice, tomatoes and serrano or jalapeno peppers makes for a good fresh salsa -- no cooking involved.
If working with a large amount of jalapenos, habaneros, serranos or any kind of hot peppers, rubber gloves are a must for cooks. Some of us have learned the painful way.
Reader Carol Brody requested a good salsa recipe, and here are some good ones.
"My niece came to visit me in Biloxi and made this wonderful tomato salsa recipe for my family," Fay Mitrenga said. "I have served it to many of my friends and family over the last few years. Everyone absolutely loves it. I think it is one of the best I have ever tasted, and yet, it is easy to make, especially when you have a good non-electric chopper that will cut the tomatoes, onions and jalape?os evenly and smaller (and quickly). Hope all your readers enjoy it."
FAY'S FAVORITE SALSA
12 ripe but firm tomatoes (Romas are preferable)
1 medium white onion
1/2 lemon, juiced
4 tablespoons olive oil (drizzle over)
3 whole cloves garlic (peel and press)
3-4 mild, medium or hot jalapeno peppers to taste
Salt to taste (it takes quite a bit)
If you like cilantro, it can be added, chopped (I love it!)
Mix all together. All ingredients can be increased or decreased according to taste.
The tomato is about a 4-to-1 ratio with onion (for increasing quantity).

A few years ago, Mary Ann Adams of Perkinston shared her favorite mild salsa recipe.

1 small bell pepper, diced
2-4 ounces diced green chili peppers
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 (6-ounce) can pitted black olives, sliced
1 teaspoon sugar
1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (or 2 tablespoons dried crushed coriander)
1 teaspoon black pepper
Jalapeno peppers to taste
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 cup oil
1/3 cup vinegar
1/3 cup lemon juice
Combine all ingredients, seasonings and blend. Pour into airtight container and chill overnight. Serve uncooked with tortilla chips. Will keep for a week if kept refrigerated.

In her cookbook "Cooking??on the Coast," the late Rose Annette O'Keefe included one of the O'Keefe family's favorite salsas that was made by Corita Johnson. This salsa is "put up" in glass jars.
CORITA'S SALSA
17 cans of chopped tomatoes
4 cups of chopped onions
2 cups chopped bell pepper
1 large ground carrot
25 marinated jalapeno peppers (1- 1/2 cups chopped)
2/3 cup cider vinegar
1 tablespoon salt
1/3 cup of sugar
Grind first five ingredients in food processor. Put in a large pot (16-quart size), then add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Simmer for 1 hour, adjust seasonings to taste, and simmer for another hour. Pour into clear jars, and apply lids after salsa has cooled to near room temperature.

PICO DE GALLO
1 large chopped tomato, seeds removed
1/4?cup cilantro, chopped
Juice of 1/2 lime
1/4 cup chopped onion
1-2 serrano chiles, seeds and ribs removed, chopped fine
Mix together and serve.?You can also add fruit, such as pineapple or mango to this pico de gallo.
PINEAPPLE & MANGO SALSA
1/2 ripe pineapple
1 ripe mango
2 tablespoons fresh mint, chopped
2 teaspoons brown sugar
Juice of 1 lime
1-2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce or habanero sauce, or to taste
1 large tomato, seeded and diced
Salt, to taste
Slice the pineapple, then peel the slices and remove the cores. Dice the flesh and place in a non-metallic bowl with any juice.
Slice the mango lengthwise on either side of the central seed. Peel the 2 mango pieces and dice the flesh. Slice and peel any remaining flesh around the seed, then dice. Add to the pineapple with any juice.
Add the chopped mint, sugar, lime juice, Tabasco and tomato, then season with salt and stir well to combine. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to develop. Stir again before serving.

Favorite pound cakes
The reader who wanted a good pound cake recipe will have a wealth of recipes from which to choose. Readers still are sending in their favorite cakes, some that have been handed down from generation to generation. I will share three today and more next week.
"Here are three recipes of mine.?Since the storm (Hurricane Katrina), I have been attempting to write all my recipes down and save them in various forms.??So many of my friends and family members lost all their favorite recipes (as you well know)," Pattie Necaise said. "The buttermilk one is my favorite pound cake recipe. It has a wonderful, smooth texture and a lingering light almond taste. It is great plain but also as a base for strawberry shortcake or ice cream and chocolate sauce. You can even make it in cupcake pans if you want.?
"It was the first recipe I ever saved. I was maybe 12 years old when my family went on vacation and our host's cook made the cake. I liked it so much that I asked for the recipe," Necaise said. "I have kept it and used it ever since, and I now get a senior discount. It is pretty simple to make."
BUTTERMILK POUND CAKE
3 cups plain flour
1/4 teaspoon soda
Pinch salt
3 cups granulated sugar
1 cup margarine
5 eggs separated
1 cup buttermilk
1 teaspoon each vanilla and almond extract
Sift together dry ingredients. In mixer bowl, beat egg whites till stiff. Set aside. In mixer bowl, beat egg yolks, sugar and margarine till light and fluffy. Add dry ingredients and buttermilk alternately beginning and ending with dry mix. Fold in egg whites. Pour into greased and floured Bundt pan. Bake in preheated oven for 1 hour. Check to see if the cake is done by inserting a toothpick in the middle. If it comes out clean, remove cake from oven. If cake is not done, bake an additional 10 minutes. Cool on rack 10 to 15 minutes and remove from pan.
Cupcakes usually take about 25 minutes to bake.

COCONUT POUND CAKE
Use the recipe above eliminating the almond extract and adding 1 teaspoon coconut extract and folding in 7 ounces of shredded coconut.
-- Submitted by Pattie Necaise
"This cake has a great texture," Necaise said. "I think you can substitute any flavor extract and end up with a tasty pound cake. You can use the glaze for extra flavor, but the cake is great without the extra trouble of the glaze."
LEMON POUND CAKE
2 sticks margarine
3 cups granulated sugar
5 eggs
3 cups plain flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup milk
1 tablespoon lemon extract
In large bowl of an electric mixer, cream the margarine with the sugar. Beat it really well, until it is light colored. Add eggs one at a time mixing well after each addition. Add the lemon extract. Sift together the dry ingredients. Add to the mix alternately with the milk, beginning and ending with the flour mix.
Bake in a greased and floured bundt pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 90 minutes. Remove from the oven and cool on a rack for 10 to 20 minutes. Loosen sides of cake from pan with a dull knife. Turn out onto the wire rack to finish cooling. If you are going to use the glaze, pour it over the hot cake as soon as you turn it out of the pan.
GLAZE
1 cup confectioner's sugar
Zest of 1 lemon
4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) fresh lemon juice
Mix the ingredients together and pour over the hot cake. I place the cake (still on the rack) over a sheet of wax paper. The wax paper catches the dripping glaze that I pour back over the cake.

One of the most vocal critics of Nasdaq?s mishandling of the Facebook IPO is backing the exchange?s plan to cover some of its losses, while urging regulators to take a longer look at exchange liability in the future.
Knight Capital, which lost $30-$35 million on the May 18 Facebook IPO, said it supports Nasdaq?s proposal to increase the accommodation pool to $62 million, from $40 million, and, most importantly, compensate members fully in cash rather than a previously-planned mix of cash and credits for future activity.
As for the discussion of whether exchanges should have limited liability and regulatory immunity for such events, Knight urged the SEC to defer discussion on such topics rather than make decisions based off the singular Facebook incident. From the letter:
We believe these critical issues should be more thoroughly addressed in a broader concept.
?
In our view, formal releases from claims of civil liability are more akin to commercial terms which should be negotiated at arms-length between two parties to a contract and should not be part of a rule imposed by a regulatory authority. Setting forth those types of requirements in the context of a rule filing inappropriately mixes commercial issues with regulatory requirements.
Knight?s acceptance of the Nasdaq deal comes a week after Citigroup filed a comment letter ripping the exchange?s handling of the Facebook debut and proposed settlement. UBS meanwhile, which lost more than$350 million on the Facebook IPO, has threatened litigation against the exchange. Hedge fund Citadel fell on Knight?s side of the debate, recommending the SEC approve the deal.
Tom Joyce, Knight?s chairman and chief executive, was sharply critical of Nasdaq in the wake of the Facebook IPO, telling CNBC the following Monday that the issues with the start of trading were not ?in any way, shape or form an industry failure,? but a failure by the exchange. ?This was the worst performance by an exchange on an IPO ever,? Joyce said.
When Nasdaq first announced its proposal June 6, Knight called it ?simply unacceptable.?
It is unclear whether Knight?s decision to support the Nasdaq Facebook settlement was in any way affected by a technology blunder of its own that resulted in a $440 million trading loss in early August and forced the company to raise capital from a consortium of investors. To be fair, the deal it agreed to support this week has been altered from the initial proposal it deemed insufficient.
A Knight spokesperson did not immediately respond to a question of whether or not there was any impact from the firm?s recent challenges.
A Nasdaq spokesman declined to comment on Knight?s letter.
Shares of Knight were down 2% at $2.74 Thursday. Nasdaq OMX Group was 0.9% lower at $22.80, while Facebook, which has been basically cut in half since its IPO at $38, gained 0.9% to $19.27.

TIP! If you are considering catastrophic health insurance, do your homework first. Make sure it covers the catastrophic events that you?re worried about.
A lot of people are discouraged from obtaining health insurance due to the high costs. With so many different insurance plans out there, it is hard to decide which one is best for you. This article helps you increase your health insurance knowledge so that you can better choose the best policy for you.
TIP! Are you unsure about something regarding the policy that you hold with your health insurance company? You can easily get answers with a phone call. Your health insurance company most likely has a customer service call center where you can talk to someone regarding your policy.
Watch your bills. Even with health insurance you will get bills that you did not expect. Prescription medications especially can add up to a significant expense that you may not have factored in to your out-of-pocket costs. Some doctors only prescribe brand-name medication without regard for the cost because they haven?t considered the generic version. Be sure to shop around. The price of medication can be different at each pharmacy.
TIP! If you have just graduated from college and want health insurance, consider these options. You may be able to get health insurance from your employer, if you have one.
When you are ready to switch your health plans, keep diligent records of every expense that is medically relevant to you. Do not forget to include the out-of-pocket expenses that you provide for your dependents as well as for yourself.
Figure out whether your records are being transferred as per legal mandates. If they are, you can request a copy for free, once a year.
TIP! Any coverage has exceptions loopholes, including your own health insurance plan. Read every page of the policy, so you won?t be surprised when the company tells you that something isn?t covered.
Keep in mind that insurance is something that?s regulated state-by-state, so you cannot purchase insurance from another state because of interstate commerce laws. Always make sure that you know which doctors and hospitals are covered by your plan. Each insurer is different, so read the fine print before you buy.
TIP! There are often plans at your provider network which allow lower premiums and reduced cost medical cards. With this discounted card you can visit doctors inside the company?s network, and receive reduced cost healthcare if you have a low income.
Health insurance policies can be manipulated to replace services you don?t use, with ones that are more beneficial to you. You can pick if you want to include co-pays on doctors visits, dental, vision or prescriptions. The more benefits that are included in your policy, the higher your premium will be.
TIP! Catastrophic health insurance is good for those who can?t afford ordinary, comprehensive insurance but need something in the event of a significant life altering event. This type of policy will also provide benefits to your overall health care portfolio in that you will be protected if extreme situations arise.
Try the ?free look? selection. This will enable you to use the policy for between 10 and 30 days, and literally test it out. If you decide you no longer want the plan, you may return it within that period of time and receive a refund.
TIP! Ask your health insurer what sort of wellness benefits they offer. Most of today?s top insurers are giving you great benefits for staying fit.
Keep in mind that health insurance companies are in business to make a profit; sometimes they seem to target those who do not have all the information they need about what kind of coverage is available. Utilize the advice within this article when obtaining a health insurance policy. It will save you a significant amount of time, and you will also save money in the

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will venture to the South Pacific this week as she takes Washington's bid to reassert itself against China to a remote corner of the world where the power rivalry is increasingly apparent.
Clinton will lead a U.S. government team to the Cook Islands for the August 31 meeting of the Pacific Islands Forum, a group of 16 independent and self-governing territories scattered across a huge expanse of ocean east of New Zealand, the State Department said on Tuesday.
Clinton's trip will also include stops in Indonesia, Brunei, East Timor and China, all of which are expected to include discussions on the South China Sea, where competing territorial claims by Beijing and its neighbors have created Asia's biggest potential military flashpoint.
"We don't want to see the disputes in the South China Sea or anywhere else settled by intimidation, by force. We want to see them settled at the negotiating table," State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told a news briefing.
"And we have also consistently been calling for increasing transparency in the Chinese military posture."
Beijing has accused Washington of sending the wrong signals on the South China Sea, part of its push back against the Obama administration's "pivot" to Asia that many Chinese analysts see as a campaign to contain rising Chinese power and influence in the region.
NURTURING RELATIONSHIPS
In the South Pacific, Clinton will have a chance to personally emphasize the benefits of U.S. friendship to a group of tiny nations that regularly line up with Washington on international issues but which are also now being heavily courted by Beijing.
The United States hopes to boost the forum as a regional alliance to combat shared threats such as climate change, encourage economic development and protect marine stocks in the face of overfishing.
China has nevertheless been scaling up its economic assistance to Pacific Island states, pledging a total of more than $600 million since 2005, according to figures compiled by Australia's Lowy Institute.
Clinton's hosts in the Cook Islands -- a self-governing territory associated with New Zealand -- will be able to show off a new, Chinese-financed courthouse and police headquarters while other island states have received grants for official cars, airport repairs, hospital construction and language courses.
While much of China's historic engagement with the region has been to counter diplomatic advances by its rival, Taiwan, it has now moved beyond that, said Denny Roy, a senior fellow at the East West Center in Hawaii.
"It is now probably more accurate to see the growth of Chinese influence in the South Pacific as not necessarily part of a scripted and controlled plan by the Chinese government," Roy said.

Clinton's trip will take her out of the United States as Democrats gather next week for a convention to nominate President Barack Obama for a second term. Clinton, who as America's top diplomat was not expected to attend, has said she plans to step down at the end of Obama's current term.
But she will stand in for Obama himself at a meeting of leaders of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) forum in Vladivostok on September 8-9, the State Department said.

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Republicans are eager to showcase Mitt Romney as a man who understands everyday Americans and a leader who can fix the economy, with GOP National Convention speeches Tuesday by the woman who knows him best and tough-talking New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie. But with New Orleans and much of the Gulf Coast waiting fearfully to see where a massive storm makes landfall, politics has become an awkward enterprise and no one knows what sort of party the GOP gathering will turn out to be.
After a one-day weather delay, the convention proceeds according to its latest script: delivering Romney the presidential nomination he fought years to achieve, calling the party to unify around him and setting the stage for the final stretch of the hotly contested campaign to unseat President Barack Obama.
Christie, who delivers Tuesday's keynote address, said that for those Americans who aren't yet sold on Romney, "you start turning it around tonight."
In a round of morning talk-show appearances, Christie said Ann Romney would humanize her husband for the nation, and that his own speech would make the case for GOP economic policies and Romney as the fixer. But ultimately, Christie said, it will up to Romney himself "to let the American people see who he is."
Eager to counter Romney's economic pitch to middle class voters, a super PAC supporting Obama unveiled an ad featuring a small businesss owner who criticized the candidate's record on job growth as Massachusetts governor.
The Romneys boarded a plane bound for Tampa, but it was a mystery whether the GOP candidate would attend the convention before his big address Thursday night.
The high campaign season opens with Romney and Obama about even in the last of the pre-convention polls, with each candidate possessing distinct and important advantages. The Democrat is the more likable or empathetic leader; the Republican is more highly regarded as the candidate who can restore the economy, the top issue for voters.
Ann Romney's convention speech was designed to speak to that divide. It was an important part of the GOP's effort to flesh out her husband and present him to the nation as more than a successful businessman and the former Republican governor of a Democratic state, Massachusetts.
She began the business of humanizing the Romney family with a taped appearance on "CBS This Morning" in which she talked about the pain of a miscarriage. The Romneys have five sons.
Isaac, the intensifying tropical storm bordering on a hurricane, skirted Tampa, a big relief for convention organizers worried about the safety of the host city and GOP delegates. But they remain saddled with the question of how to proceed with a political festival ? one devoted both to scoring points against Obama and firing up excitement for Romney ? under the shadow of a dangerous storm crawling toward the Gulf Coast.
Organizers essentially cut Monday from the schedule, calling the convention to order just long enough to recess it, and shoehorned their four-day showcase into the remaining three days. But even that was subject to change, depending on Isaac's whims.
Republicans plainly had more at stake in their convention week ? Democrats meet next week in Charlotte, N.C. ? but the Obama campaign also had to recalibrate its tactics as Gulf residents fled their homes or hunkered down. Vice President Joe Biden was called off a Romney-bashing trip to Florida. On Monday, the president worked on preparations for the storm, declaring a state of emergency in Louisiana, speaking with governors and directing federal officials to coordinate disaster relief with state and local officials along the Gulf Coast.
That's not to say partisanship has subsided with Isaac's gathering strength. Hardly.
Obama, after a morning statement from the White House about Isaac, heads to Iowa on Tuesday as the first stop on a campaign trip in which he will make a personal appeal to college voters in three university towns: Ames, Iowa; Fort Collins, Colo.; and Charlottesville, Va.
On Twitter Monday night, Obama circulated a quotation from Women's Health Magazine suggesting that Republicans would take away women's right to contraception, which the Romney campaign denies. "Crazy as it sounds, the fight to limit or even ban birth control is a key issue in the upcoming presidential election," it said.
And Republicans made clear that Obama's performance is very much fair game for the convention. Reince Priebus, the Republican chairman, may have gone beyond Romney's comfort zone on that front when he told "CBS This Morning" that "we need to prosecute the president who seems to be in love with the sound of his own voice."
The suggestion of criminal proceedings against a president, however rhetorical, was a step beyond the ordinary, and Russ Schriefer, Romney's chief convention planner, appeared to dissociate himself from the remark. "I wouldn't define it that way and I wouldn't look at it that way," he told a news conference. "What we would want to do is define what President Obama has done over the last four years, how and why he's failed, and how his leadership has really failed the American people."
In a sign of just how stage-managed these conventions have become, the never-dull Christie did something he rarely does before a speech ? wrote down a full text ? as he prepared to deliver the keynote address Tuesday night. "They want you to work off a full text and that's fine," he told MSNBC. "I think my challenge up there is gonna be to be natural and be myself."
Romney managed to stir up the pot over abortion, if briefly, when he said in a CBS interview that he opposes abortions except "in the case of rape and incest, and the health and life of the mother." Any exceptions made solely on the basis of a woman's health have drawn particularly fierce criticism from abortion foes for years, because they argue such an exception is so broad as to do nothing to limit the procedure.
But Romney's aides quickly said he wasn't, in fact, advocating an exemption for a woman's health. "He opposes abortion except for cases of rape, incest and where the life of the mother is threatened," said Andrea Saul, a spokeswoman. Still, his comment underscored his difference of opinion on the subject with his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, as well as with his own convention platform, which opposes all abortions.
With the economy seen as Romney's strong suit, and Obama's economic record considered a fat target in a time of persistent unemployment over 8 percent, Republicans, both from the stage and the floor, want to keep a laser focus on the subject.
"We've got to make the case that he is uniquely qualified in this hour," said Sen. Roger Wicker, R-Miss., interviewed in the hall. "This week is about convincing the 10 percent of undecided voters that Romney has always been called to come out and fix broken organizations."
Even so, there were unmistakable if gentle nudges from Republicans who say it is also vital for Romney to broaden his appeal.
"This is Romney's threshold moment," Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, wrote in The Washington Post. "He must demonstrate that he would follow the example of other Republican presidents in addressing issues important to women."
An AP-GfK poll of registered voters conducted from Aug. 16-20 found Obama leading Romney 50 percent to 44 percent among women. That represented a narrowing of the gap by Romney since a survey in May, when the president led 54-39 among female voters.
Romney trailed badly among another key group. A Gallup poll taken between July 30 and Aug. 1 found Obama winning 60 percent support among Hispanic voters, and the Republican at 27 percent, little different from 64-29 earlier in the year.
Among seniors, the group most affected by a Medicare debate that has become central to the campaign, Romney led Obama by a margin of 52 percent to 42 percent in the recent AP-GfK poll. That was compared with 53-40 in May.

Members of the Texas delegation sing the U.S. national anthem at the start of the second session of the Republican??With more than 100,000 red, white and blue balloons hanging in nets from the rafters, and Ann Romney waiting in the wings to deliver a high-stakes prime-time speech, Republicans formally opened the second day of their presidential nominating convention on Tuesday.
Ann Romney's remarks aimed to introduce?or reintroduce?Mitt Romney to millions of Americans. Top Romney aides say that as many as one in three voters has yet to really tune in the 2012 campaign. Her speech was expected to focus on the Romney family and its personal struggles, and it comes at a time when Americans tell pollsters they think President Barack Obama better understands their problems.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will deliver the convention's keynote address, which will be a blunt political call to arms. Christie plans to indict Obama's leadership style and policies, and to argue that Romney and running mate Paul Ryan are better suited to rebuild the economy. The official theme of the convention is "We Built It," a knock at Obama's argument that entrepreneurs cannot succeed without government help--notably investments in education and infrastructure. (Democrats noted that both parties' conventions received nearly $20 million in taxpayer funding).
The gathering reconvened after an abortive session on Monday, cut short by Tropical Storm Isaac, which strengthened into a hurricane on Tuesday and bore down on the Gulf Coast seven years after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area?especially New Orleans.
Team Romney was closely watching the storm. Romney spoke to Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal earlier in the day to express his concerns and offer his help if needed.
About 10 minutes before Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus gaveled the gathering to order, Rep. Ron Paul walked by the Maine delegation, prompting nearby supporters to start chanting his name.?Maine delegates were angry over new party rules that would prevent candidates like Paul from raking up delegates in states that don't bind them to vote based on the overall primary or caucus results.
"Remember the Maine!" the delegates shouted as Paul was swarmed by reporters and supporters.
Paul turned down an RNC speaking slot because of conditions the party required. Paul has not endorsed Mitt Romney.
Kenny Bob Tapp, a 25-year old delegate from Oklahoma who supports Paul, said the national party is alienating its grassroots. "They have a funny way of showing it if they do appreciate us," Tapp said. As for Romney or Ryan's speeches, "I'm not excited for any of them," he said.

By R. Albert Mohler Jr.
In the world but not of the world? From the very beginning, the church has faced the challenge of responding to external events, trends, ideologies, and controversies. By definition, the church does not get to choose these challenges, but they have been thrust upon Christians by the world. The question always comes down to this: What now?
That question seems especially urgent in light of the emergence of same-sex unions and marriage in the United States and the world over. How must the church answer this challenge?
To answer that question, we need to think about the speed of the moral revolution that has pushed this question to the forefront of our culture. In less than a generation, homosexuality has gone from being almost universally condemned to being almost fully normalized in the larger society.
We are facing a true moral inversion ? a system of moral understandings turned upside down. Where homosexuality was even recently condemned by the society, now it is considered a sin to believe that homosexuality is wrong in any way. A new sexual morality has replaced the old, and those who hold to the old morality are considered morally deficient. The new moral authorities have one central demand for the church: get with the new program.
This puts the true church, committed to the authority of God?s Word, in a very difficult cultural position. Put simply, we cannot join the larger culture in normalizing homosexuality and restructuring society to match this new morality. Recognizing same-sex unions and legalizing same-sex marriage is central to this project.
Liberal churches and denominations are joining the project, some more quickly and eagerly than others. The cultural pressure is formidable, and only churches that are truly committed to Scripture will withstand the pressure to accommodate themselves and their message to the new morality.
What, then, is the true church to do?
First, we must stand without compromise on the authority of the Bible and the principles of sexual conduct and morality that God has revealed so clearly in His Word. The Bible?s sexual morality is grounded in the creation of humanity in God?s image; we are created as male and female and given the gift of sex within the marriage covenant ? and only within the marriage covenant between one man and one woman for as long they both shall live.
The easiest way to summarize the Bible?s teaching on sexuality is to begin with God?s blessing of sex only within the marriage covenant between a man and a woman. Then, just remember that sex outside of that covenant relationship, whatever its form or expression, is explicitly forbidden. Christians know that these prohibitions are for our good and that rejecting them is tantamount to a moral rebellion against God Himself. We also know that the Bible forbids all same-sex sexual acts and behaviors. Thus, we know that homosexuality is a sin, that blessing it in any way is also sin, and that normalizing sin cannot lead to human happiness.
Second, we must realize what is at stake. Marriage is first and foremost a public institution. It has always been so. Throughout history, societies have granted special recognition and privileges to marriage because it is the central organizing institution of human culture. Marriage regulates relationships, sexuality, human reproduction, lineage, kinship, and family structure. But marriage has also performed another crucial function ? it has regulated morality.
This is why the challenge of samesex unions is so urgent and important. Redefining marriage is never simply about marriage. It leads to the redefinition of reproduction and parenthood, produces a legal revolution with vast consequences, replaces an old social order with something completely new, and forces the adoption of a new morality. This last point is especially important. Marriage teaches morality by its very centrality to the culture. With a new concept of marriage comes a new morality, enforced by incredible social pressure and, eventually, legal threats.
Third, we must act quickly to teach Christians the truth about marriage and God?s plan for sexuality in all its fullness and beauty. We must develop pastoral approaches that are faithful to Scripture and arm this generation of believers to withstand the cultural pressure and respond in ways that are truly Christian.
Fourth, and most important, this challenge must drive us to the gospel of Jesus Christ. Christians must be the first to understand this challenge in light of the gospel. After all, we know spiritual rebellion when we see it, for we ourselves were rebels before God?s grace conquered us. We know what moral confusion means because without the light of God?s Word, we are just as confused.
There is no rescue from the self-deception of sin except for the salvation that is ours in Jesus Christ. While doing everything else required of us in this challenge, the faithful church must center its energies on the one thing that we know we must do above all else ? preach, teach, and live the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Tropical Storm Isaac is gaining strength in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall as a hurricane a day short of the seventh anniversary of Hurricane Katrina.
Forecasters have projected landfall as early as Tuesday night, and possibly as a Category 1 hurricane as it makes its way through the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico.
"Maximum winds have increased to 70 mph and expect Isaac will be a hurricane before landfall," said Ed Rappaport, deputy director at the National Hurricane Center.
On Monday, New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu said Isaac's similar path as Katrina and the anniversary was leaving much of the Gulf Coast on "a high level of anxiety."
As of 11 p.m. ET, the center of the storm was 145 miles southeast of the mouth of the Mississippi River and moving northwest at 10 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center. The slow moving storm could punish coastal areas with up to 36 hours of tropical winds and 10 to 16 inches of rain, Louisiana's Gov. Bobby Jindal warned Monday.
FEMA director Craig Fugate and the National Hurricane Center's Dr. Rick Knabb say there has been too much focus on New Orleans bracing for Isaac on the anniversary of Katrina.
"I think people need to understand this is not a New Orleans storm. This is a Gulf Coast storm," Fugate said today. Despite hurricane warnings extended across more than 330 miles from Louisiana to western Florida, all eyes are still on New Orleans as this will be its first big test since Katrina. Louisiana has set up shelters and stockpiled more than a million packaged meals, 1.4 million bottles of water and 17,000 tarps.
Since the levees failed seven years ago over $14 billion have been spent on the 133-mile long floodwalls, spillways, gates and pumps surrounding New Orleans. While officials say the city is more prepared now than they were in 2005, they're still taking no chances when it comes to evacuations.
Fugate and Jindal warned people in low lying areas to get out of Isaac's way.
"Today is the day," Jindal said Monday. "Today is the final day you should be taking any final precautions. If you want to evacuate, today is the day to do that."
Early Monday, 50,000 people had already evacuated from southeast Louisiana's St. Charles parish. In addition, 2,000 jail inmates have been moved out of Isaac's expected path.
Jindal said over 4,000 National Guardsmen will be mobilized in case of emergency, but said he does not anticipate having to activate contraflow highway rules for evacuation purposes.
Jindal said that President Obama called him Monday to say that the governor's request for a pre-landfall federal disaster declaration had been approved. The approval opens up federal funding to potentially help Louisiana cope with any damage.
"We are going to need help after the storm as well," Jindal said. "This is not going to be done just after the storm makes landfall or even just after the storm leaves Louisiana."
Isaac's slow pace means it "could actually cause more damage," the governor said.
He said the storm could batter areas with tropical winds for up to 36 hours and could dump more than a foot of rain while lingering over some areas.
Jindal said he is skipping the Republican National Convention in Florida where he was expected to speak because of Isaac. "I will not be speaking or attending the Republican National Convention in Florida. There is no time for politics here in Louisiana," he said.
Fugate warned that Isaac's biggest punch may land in Alabama or Mississippi. The National Hurricane Center said to expect a storm surge of at least six feet with the possibility it could reach up to 12 feet.
FEMA activated its command center in Atlanta Monday. Division Director Ginger Edwards says past disasters are driving prep for this storm.
"After every disaster we learn new lessons but you know we're constantly exercising with the states. We're planning with the states and just becoming more and more, more and more involved and more prepared," said Edwards.
Alabama and Mississippi have already joined Louisiana in declaring states of emergency.
Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport said there are no flights scheduled for Tuesday and the airport will not be used as an evacuation shelter. People will not be allowed to stay in the terminal during the storm, the airport said in a statement on Monday.

About Author
Author: Article Tools:When it comes to getting rid of mold and other environmental hazards in your home, it is crucial to understand and correct your mold problem from start to finish. We estimate that four out of every five homes have at least one environmental hazard that could pose a problem to your health. That?s why we have many clients whose homes we test for mold on a regular basis. We go in to their homes every six months to determine if there is any issue that has cropped up which we cannot easily see.
Look For Water Intrusion and Leaks
We often start out looking for water intrusion when we want to look for mold, particularly in a basement. We have a lot of water around here in the northeast region, and certainly in Connecticut, as we have a very high water table here. Many people have sump pumps and the sump pumps fail, boutique louboutin, and then you get water into the basement level. That can create mold on walls, wall surfaces, and floor surfaces ? something which would be fairly particular to this area. That?s why mold inspection in Stamford and the surrounding areas can be so important.
In addition, we also test for mold when our clients have leaks in their houses. It makes no difference if it is the roof that leaks, siding, or a window ? any place that water might enter from outside can be a sign that there is mold in the home and warrant a home mold inspection. As well as internal leaks, we also look for plumbing leaks. Those would be the most common reasons to test for mold.
Carry Out Significant Components
Where there is moisture,Liu Xing vowed, ralph lauren france, there often is mold. That is why we particularly look for what we call ?red flags of moisture? when doing a mold inspection. Taking air samples, carrying out a visual inspection,Theplane of existence, doing thermal imaging and moisture readings are all important components of our investigation, ralph lauren pas cher, as these can determine the moisture in your home as well as potential areas of mold.
1.Taking Air samples. This is very important. Air samples determine the level of mold spores in the air,Wedding Dresses, and that helps us to assess what cleaning may need to be done in the building or house that we are testing.
2.Carrying Out a Visual inspection. A big part of our inspection process is a thorough visual inspection, checking to see if there are any obvious signs of moisture or mold.
3.Doing Moisture readings. We do moisture readings in conjunction with our visual inspections. We take them in order to identify whether there is moisture in particular areas.
4.Doing thermal imaging. This is done through the use of a specialized camera that allows us to see temperature variations. When there is moisture, ralph lauren, the temperature of a wet area versus a dry areas will be different, christian louboutin, and those images will appear different on a thermal image or infra-red camera.
After thoroughly carrying out these four components, we generate a report based upon our individualized findings and recommendations of what should be done to solve both the water problem and the mold problem. If you solve the mold problem and not the water problem, you will just grow mold again. This is what really makes our company stand out amongst the competition. I don?t know of any other company that will give recommendations at all. Most don?t give any; they just identify the problems.
Since our practice is strictly limited to environmental testing and consulting ? and never remediation ? you?re assured of an accurate and unbiased assessment. The only thing that we do is environmental testing. It really makes it easy when we make recommendations to clients, as they know we are not just trying to sell them our services.
